Weekly Logo Roundup 2 – So long and thanks for all the fish!

February 16th, 2013 Posted by Logo Examples No Comment yet

Here are some of our favourite logos for the week. Carrying on with the trend from last week we’ve got another tech company in communications (we really enjoyed designing that logo) and a logo project for a photographer.

ALM Communications

Here’s a company that installs, upgrades, reconfigures or removes RF equipment for mobile phone carries. This means that the company owner is in a shelter on the ground or on top of a building in the city hanging over the edge installing new antennas.

Because of his quirky sense of humour (self-described), the company owner was drawn to some of the fun and unexpected logos we’ve done (like this plumbing logo here), and wanted something with a similar feel.

Communications Logo 1

Here’s the logo that was ultimately chosen. Remember that can-telephone game you played as a kid? Well here’s a logo with that concept. For a company that deals with very serious technology, this logo is unexpected and certainly memorable.

Communications Logo 2

When dealing with the theme of communication, we thought of outer space communications and the SETI project. This logo is not only friendly, but also suggests that ALM Communication can handle signals from far reaches of space.

Communications Logo 3

And here’s another quirky logo. While you might see dolphins as intelligent mammals with sophisticated signal patterns of communication (they totally are by the way), we envisioned this logo with a Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy vibe to it (yup. We’re all fans here). So long and thanks for all the fish!

Photography Logo 1

We do a bit of logos for photographers. Usually they are used for watermarking the photos, sometimes as profiles for social media sites, often on business cards. Here’s one version of a photography logo we’ve done for Adam JD Photography.

Photography Logo 2

And here’s another logo we did for Adam JD Photography. Not Adam’s favourite, but it was ours.

3 Violon

3 Violon is a Swiss skiing team. They handle the toughest slopes, so they wanted a tough looking logo.

Sport team logo

The logo colors have a light to dark treatment, which added to the feel of intensity of the logo. In the middle we added 3 mountains to echo the ‘3’ in the team’s name and added a ski mask to make a tough looking skier out of this mark. The ski poles are criss-crossed to give a pirate look, again to communicate tough team persona.

All Plumbing Enterprises & Their Brand New Logo

November 18th, 2012 Posted by Custom Logo Design, Logo Examples No Comment yet

All Plumbing Enterprises is growing – They need a new logo!

I want the logo to make the homeowner want to pick up the phone and call me for their plumbing needs

That’s it. Those were all the client’s instructions. Not really a lot of direction is it?
But sometimes that’s all we need. Especially in this case, since our client seemed very open to whatever we design.

We ended up breaking down our designs into 3 themes:
> 1 traditional logo
> 1 friendly logo and,
> 1 memorable-fun logo (pictured above).

We are sure that it would get proper attention if it was on the side of a company van. Inspiration from the traditional pirate’s skull and bones, but with the kind of colours and design that would suggest a friendlier company – one that certainly would not go on a plundering spree while servicing a client.

Logo Version 2 – The Friendly Design

Logo Version 3 – The Traditional Design

Ultimately the traditional logo was the one our client intended to use for his business, but who knows, maybe after sleeping on it, he’ll reconsider and go with our personal favourite…

Kander Medical – Business Logo Case Study

October 11th, 2012 Posted by Client Case Studies, Custom Logo Design, Logo Examples No Comment yet

Here’s a logo we enjoyed doing. It’s for a medical company that’s expanding and rolling out with a solid product in a niche market. Naturally to win customer confidence they need to look the part.

Instructions were fairly straight forward, though without a clear direction.

Kander Medical is a medical device company that sells products to men who suffer from urinary incontinence…

The theme of incontinence (inability to retain urine) could be used, but would have to be done in a respectful and appropriate manner. This is not a must, only a suggestion.

Appealing logo forms include letterform (motorola, univision), wordform (IBM, FedEx), or possibly something more abstract.

This logo will be used on the company website (which is still to be created), letterhead, business cards, and other misc. locations, so it needs to scale well. It may also be printed in black and white at times.

Since this is a sensitive issue for many men around the world, we wanted our logo to communicate confidence in the product and discretion. That meant avoiding wild colours, and choosing rich and deep colours instead. Overall we felt that a conservative logo was the way to go with medical symbolism. In addition to the above logo, we delivered these:

Logo Version 2

Logo Version 3

But then we thought some, and decided to deliver a more humorous design. We would like to think that men with this unfortunate condition have the wisdom to treat it with a bit of humour, but that may be just wishful thinking.

Logo Version 4 – With a Bit of Humour

Our client reviewed them all, and requested the following:

I like the concept for version 2. However, I would like a few changes:

– Could you match the blue color to the color in the ActiCuf logo exactly? See ActiCuf logo attachment.
– The black and blue aren’t working well together. Would you please change the black to be a medium gray? See the background color of this website [site url removed]
– I like the “+” sign, but it’s not quite prominent enough. Would you please make it bigger per the attached sketch?
– What font did you use for “Kander Medical?” It is good, I’m just curious.
– Would you please provide color as well as b/w files for the next review, and use pure white as a background.

In addition to the ActiCuf colour, our client attached a great drawing; showing exactly what he wanted us to do.

Easy instructions mean a quicker turnaround, so we promptly delivered:

Another client got a sweet logo made by Little Guy Logos. It’s on to the next project for us…

Meanwhile if you’d like to find out more about the company, here’s a bit from the big boss:

Kander Medical is a company that manufactures and sells medical devices to men with urinary incontinence to help them manage their condition. Two million men in the United States experience loss of bladder control from disease or injury that results in involuntary urine leakage. Incontinence is an unfortunate condition that can at times cause social embarrassment and generally decrease someone’s quality of life. Kander Medical’s main product is called “ActiCuf Compression Pouch,” which is a combination penile clamp and absorbent attachment. Kander Medical’s mission is to help incontinence patients return to their active and fulfilling lifestyles.

low cost logo design for limes bike share
Here’s a logo we really enjoyed doing. Why? Because, it was fun and for a good cause! It’s a great little start-up that wants to help people stay active and healthy while reducing the carbon impact on our planet.

The premise is simple – get more people riding bicycles! Little Guy Logos is great at providing low cost custom logo designs for all our clients! We don’t quote a start-up one price and an established company another price for the logo design. Our clients know exactly how much their custom logo is going to cost them exactly the same price as any other company would pay for theirs. At the same time the quality of our designs never drops.

LearnBetter Custom Logo Case Study

learnbetter affordable logo design
Recently we had the pleasure of working on another logo for a learning organization. This was a custom logo design for a tutoring center, and since their philosophy is to reinvest into their instructor and learning materials, spending a few hundred dollars on a logo was out of the question! The LearnBetter tutoring center therefore turned to us for an affordable logo design. Having first seen the affordable custom logo we did for Manda Film, the decision makers at LearnBetter felt confident that we would deliver something they would love (and we did).

I’ve attached a rough (and disproportional) outline of how I want my logo too look like. I’m not much of an artist, but the logo is basically an image of a sun with birds flying around it, somewhat showing a transition from the birds to the open book that is directly under the sun. If it helps, my business is a tutoring centre targeted towards students in elementary and secondary school.

The business name is LearnBetter Tutoring Centre but we just operate under LearnBetter. I like the font type I’ve used for the “learnbetter” text. It is Arial Rounded Bold but you are welcome to play with that as well.

The above hand-drawn image was attached. That and the instructional message made it very clear what we had to deliver

Here is another version of the ridiculously affordable custom logo that our client got within days:

People often say that there is nothing new under the sun, or that new ideas are just recreations of old ideas. In some ways that might be true and our designers went on the hunt for more inspiration to put a different spin on the next version.
There are many ways to make book pages turn into birds. Here are a few examples the designer for this project came across:
book pages turning into birds

(Here is source 1, and source 2)

And here is version three of this custom logo:
learnbetter affordable logo design

Despite very clear instructions, there is still lots of room for interpretation and creative freedom. This version looks unlike the first two logos, and the last one the project designer did again looks different

Here’s the fourth LearnBetter logo variation:
learnbetter affordable logo design4

While this logo is very much like the first two, the glow within the book creates a different feeling from the other two logos. Here the focus is on the warmth that the birds bring into the book, where this warmth (representing ideas and knowledge) is stored and kept for the next student.

The instructors at LearnBetter were very happy with our work. Here is what one of them had to say about our service:

These are ridiculously amazing! Definitely worth the price. No revisions necessary!

I don’t get to say this often, but this was truly a bang for my buck. There is no doubt that I will use your services again in the future.

Thanks to these fantastic instructions, we were able to deliver a very affordable custom logo to our client, and it’s only because of the clear direction that we were able to impress our client. LittleGuyLogos has another satisfied customer, and we hope that after reading this, you will get your low cost logo designed by us.

Manda Film Custom Logo Case Study

Manda Film Video Custom Logo
It’s very easy to get a low cost logo that has been designed just as you want it. The key is good communication. How do our clients get exactly the logos they want? Well, when our clients have a good idea of what they want, they just provide us with a very clear direction. Manda Film/Video’s custom logo design is a great example of a clear direction. Here’s what the order request that we received looked like:

See attached – please use Bauhuas 93 for Manda Film/Video and phone number. outline in black, orange background….camera similar to shown in the middle.

That’s it! A hand-drawn image (you see above) was attached, and combined with this short instructional message, we knew exactly what to deliver.

Here is version one of the custom logo that our client got for a ridiculously low cost:

And here is version two of the affordable logo:

Seemingly clear instructions still leave enough room for interpretation and creativity. Because it was so simple to deliver those two designs, our designer had some inspiration, and decided to experiment.

Here’s the third Manda logo version:
The colourful background is still orange, but because of this ‘spotted’ background design, the logo looks completely different.

And here are more fruits of our designer’s experimentation. This is the fourth custom logo design:

Because of the clear direction and accompanying illustrations, we were able to really understand our client, and deliver the exact logo design that our client wanted, but couldn’t or didn’t want to make by themselves. As a result LittleGuyLogos has another satisfied customer, and another client got a low cost logo designed
